Stijn Valentijn Grul is a Dutch composer, producer, songwriter, and vocalist whose work bridges the worlds of alternative music and cinematic storytelling. Whether writing for the screen or the stage, he is drawn to music that captures emotion through texture, atmosphere, and melody. With a background in vocal performance and composing for film at the Dutch Film Academy and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Stijn has developed a distinctive sound that blends orchestral writing with contemporary production. His music is shaped by a fascination with saturation, organic imperfections, and arrangements that allow vulnerability and intensity to coexist. In 2024, he received the Keep an Eye Filmscore Award for his score to Mijn Lief Kind, recognised for its emotional depth, versatility, and seamless relationship with the film. Since then, his work has included scores for Pleasant Hell, which premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Argus Eyed, recorded with a full orchestra at FAMES Studio, and other independent film productions.
